Sell eBooks as an Affiliate
Selling eBooks as an affiliate is one lucrative business model.
You can write eBooks or have someone else write them for you. You can also purchase rights to sell (resell) eBooks.
When you promote other people’s eBooks, and purchase the resell rights; you keep all the profit.
But if you market other people’s eBooks, but they sell them; you receive a commission. This referral-commission arrangement is known as an Affiliate Program.
The benefit of selling eBooks as an affiliate is that you can sell eBooks now, rather than waiting before you can produce your own product.
You can also gain marketing and sales knowledge by publicizing and selling other people’s eBooks.
And, you won’t have to pay a ghostwriter to produce your eBook inventory, either.
Affiliate eBook sales can be viewed as receiving a finder’s fee for arranging the sale.
But, try to capture the name of the person that you are referring for the affiliate sale before sending them to the sales page of the owner of the eBook.
How do you do this?
By offering a free eBook, of course!
You will receive part of the revenue from the sale of the eBook. But, even if you receive 100% commission, the eBook owner wins because they get the name and E-mail address of the buying customer.
This is the reason that you give eBooks away, and the reason that the eBook owner gives away such large commissions, (Commissions on eBooks run between 25% and 75%.)
But, you cannot depend upon the eBook’s product owner to sell the product.
Some eBook sales pages do a poor job of selling.
Instead, you may have to "pre-sell" the eBook for the product owner.
To do this you need a killer sales pitch that focuses upon the worries, pains, frustrations and needs of the customer.
You almost have to convince them that they cannot live without the product. You also have to keep them coming back to your Website, or, you need to keep reminding them of how your affiliate eBook solves their needs.
With all this work, you can see that you are better off developing your own eBook, and selling it for 100% of the profits.
On the other hand, you can work as an affiliate for quite a number of companies, and earn commissions from many more products than you can create yourself as you start out in the eBook business.
So, while the eBook owner will provide a commission only on the first sale, if you can get customers to keep returning to your Website, you can make repeat sales.
One way to keep customers coming back is to provide valuable content on your Website. Content that these customers keep coming back to read.
If you cannot write magnetic content, pick up free or paid content to place on your affiliate Website.
Free content is available from some article sites.
Paid content can include custom written articles, and Private Label Rights (PLR) articles. PLR article rights allow you to change the articles and use them in any way that you wish.
There are also resell rights eBooks that you can sell. However, you will not be able to make changes in the resell rights eBook.
There are many reasons why paying for the rights to market eBooks are to your advantage. First, you will have a product to sell immediately.
If you pay a writer to develop the eBook for you, you can tell the writer exactly what you want, what product you are trying to sell, and what ideas you wan to include to keep readers interested and informed.
With free content, you are limited to what is already on the market, but when you contract for an eBook, you own the copyright. That means that no one else can reuse your eBook without your consent.
If you use free content, you are sharing that content with lots of other people, and many other affiliates. Even more, the author will place their byline on the eBook and capture customers that could have been your customers.
Lots of eBooks contain specialized knowledge, and are highly valued. These eBooks offer nice affiliate commissions rates for those who know how to pre-sele eBook products.
As long as you promote a product or service that helps others solve a real need, then pre-selling an eBook is not difficult.
The key in success in eBook affiliate marketing is getting customers to your Website enough times so that you can recommend the eBook to them. This is key to selling eBooks as an affiliate.
